Positive Crankcase Ventilation Tube
Turbocharger
NOTE: The tamper-proof positive crankcase ventilation
system includes components that may be replaced if necessary. The system may
include an outlet duct connected to the end of the Positive Crankcase
Ventilation Tube.
Procedure
- The assistance of a second
technician may be necessary to support and move the assembly during
installation.
- Ensure proper use of room
temperature vulcanizing (RTV) sealant. Use of Room Temperature
Vulcanizing (RTV) and Anaerobic Sealant
- Add a 14 mm bead of sealant at the
right and left T-joint where the front cover meets the cylinder head and
at the rear of the camshaft cover at the right and left T-joint where
the vacuum pump bolts on. Refer to Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and
Sealers.
NOTE: Be careful when moving the assembled
components with tamper-proof fittings to avoid stress on the
connections.
- Install the camshaft cover and
turbocharger in position.
- Camshaft Cover Bolt [17x]
Procedure
Hand start the bolts. Tighten all
camshaft cover bolts in sequence.
- Camshaft Cover Bolt [4x]
Procedure
Tighten the camshaft cover bolts
in sequence to 10 N.m (89 lb in).
- Turbocharger Nut [4x]
CAUTION: Refer to Torque-to-Yield Fastener Caution.
Procedure
- Tighten the NEW turbocharger nuts a
first pass in sequence to 30 N.m (22 lb ft).
- Tighten the NEW turbocharger nuts a
final pass in sequence to 90 degrees.

- Ignition Coil [4x]
Procedure
- Inspect the inside of the ignition
coil rubber boot for a thin, even coat of grease.
- If there is no grease present or
additional grease is necessary, apply a thin coating of dielectric
grease evenly to the inside of the ignition coil rubber boot, up to a
depth of 15 mm from the end of the boot. Refer to Adhesives, Fluids,
Lubricants, and Sealers.
- Remove any excess grease from
around the end of the boot, and ensure there is not an excessive amount
within the boot.
