Conditions for Running the DTC

Ignition = On

Conditions for Setting the DTC

  • K43 Power Steering Control Module = Missing Calibration
  • Power Steering Control Module SPS Calibration Status = Incomplete
  • VIN Not Programmed
  • Software Malfunction

Actions Taken When the DTC Sets

Power Steering Output Torque = Default

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

  • K43 Power Steering Control Module = Programmed
  • K43 Power Steering Control Module = Calibrated

Circuit/System Verification

Symptom Byte:43, 45, 46, 47, 4A, or 5A

1. Ignition - On / Vehicle - In Service Mode.

2. Verify DTC C056E is not set.

  • If the DTC is set
  1. Perform all necessary programming and setup procedures for the control module: K43 Power Steering Control Module
  2. Verify the DTC does not set.
    • If the DTC sets - Replace the component: K43 Power Steering Control Module
    • Go to next step: If the DTC is not set
  3. All OK.
  • Go to next step: If the DTC is not set

3. All OK.

Symptom Byte:42

1. Ignition - On / Vehicle - In Service Mode.

2. Verify DTC C056E is not set.

  • If the DTC is set
  1. Calibrate the power steering control module.Refer to:Power Steering Control Module Calibration
  2. Verify the DTC does not set.
    • If the DTC sets - Replace the component: K43 Power Steering Control Module
    • Go to next step: If the DTC is not set
  3. All OK.
  • Go to next step: If the DTC is not set

3. All OK.

Symptom Byte:37

1. Ignition - On / Vehicle - In Service Mode

2. Verify DTC C056E is not set.

  • If the DTC is set

Replace the component: Steering Gear

  • Go to next step: If the DTC is not set

3. All OK.
