Buick Regal: Air Conditioning Evaporator Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Air Conditioning Evaporator and Blower Case Replacement - Remove.

2.

Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning

Heater and Air Conditioning Evaporator and Blower Upper Case Bolt(1) - Remove[11x].

3. Heater and Air Conditioning Evaporator and Blower Upper Case(2) - Remove.

4. Unlock the retaining tabs.

5.

Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning

Air Conditioning Evaporator(1) - Remove.

Installation Procedure

1.

Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning

Air Conditioning Evaporator(1) - Install.

2.

Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning

CAUTION: Fastener Caution

Heater and Air Conditioning Evaporator and Blower Upper Case(2) - Install.

3. Heater and Air Conditioning Evaporator and Blower Upper Case Bolt(1) - Install and tighten[11x] 2.5N.m (22 lb in).

4. Air Conditioning Evaporator and Blower Case Replacement - Install.

AIR CONDITIONING EVAPORATOR AND BLOWER MODULE DRAIN HOSE REPLACEMENT

Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning

  1. Air Conditioning Evaporator and Blower Module Drain Hose

Procedure

Pull the right front carpet back to access the air conditioning evaporator and blower module drain hose.

CAUTION: Refer to HVAC Module Drain Tube Caution.

HEATER INLET HOSE REPLACEMENT (3.6L LGX)

Removal Procedure

1. Drain the cooling system.

2. Air Cleaner Outlet Duct - Remove.

3.

Heater Inlet Hose Clamp(1) - Disengage.

4. Heater Inlet Hose(2)@Heater Inlet and Outlet Pipe - Remove.

5.

Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning

Heater Inlet Hose Clamp(1) - Disengage.

6. Heater Inlet Hose(2)@Heater Core - Remove.

7. Heater Inlet Hose(2) - Remove.

Installation Procedure

1.

Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning

Heater Inlet Hose(2)@Heater Core - Install.

2. Heater Inlet Hose Clamp(1) - Engage.

3.

Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning

Heater Inlet Hose(2)@Heater Inlet and Outlet Pipe - Install.

4. Heater Inlet Hose Clamp(1) - Engage.

5. Air Cleaner Outlet Duct - Install.

6. Fill the cooling system.

7. Start the engine and check for coolant leaks.

HEATER INLET HOSE REPLACEMENT (2.0L LTG)

NOTE: The charge air cooler outlet air tube is only removed for clarity in the graphic.

Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static) Cooling System Draining and Filling (GE 47716).

  1. Heater Inlet Hose Clamp[2x]
  2. Heater Inlet Hose Retainer
    Procedure
    Unlock the retaining tabs.
  3. Heater Inlet Hose

2. Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement.

    Procedure
    Unlock the retaining tabs.
  3. Heater Outlet Hose
    Preliminary Procedures
    1. Fill the cooling system to the proper level.
    2. Start the engine and check for coolant leaks.

HEATER OUTLET HOSE REPLACEMENT (2.0L LTG)

NOTE: The charge air cooler outlet air tube is only removed for clarity in the graphic.

Drain the cooling system.

  1. Heater Outlet Hose Clamp[3x]
  2. Heater Outlet Hose Retainer
    Procedure
    Unlock the retaining tabs.
  3. Heater Outlet Hose
    Procedure
    1. Fill the cooling system.
    2. Check the cooling system for leaks.

HEATER COOLANT PUMP HOSE REPLACEMENT

  1. Heater Coolant Pump Hose Clamp[2x]

PASSENGER COMPARTMENT AIR FILTER REPLACEMENT

Instrument Panel Compartment Replacement.

  1. Passenger Compartment Air Filter Housing Cover Screw[2x]
    CAUTION: Fastener Caution.
    Tighten 2.5N.m (22 lb in)

    Procedure
    Unlock the retaining tabs.

BLOWER MOTOR CONTROL MODULE REPLACEMENT

  1. Blower Motor Control Module Bolt[2x]
    CAUTION: Fastener Caution.
    Tighten 2.5 N.m (22 lb in)

    1. Disconnect the electrical connectors.

BLOWER MOTOR REPLACEMENT

1. Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (3.6L LGX) Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (2.0L LTG).

2. Instrument Panel Lower Trim Panel Insulator Replacement.

  1. Blower Motor Bolt[3x]
    CAUTION: Fastener Caution.
    Tighten 2.5 N.m (22 lb in)
  2. Blower Motor
    Procedure
    Disconnect the electrical connector.

SIDE WINDOW DEFOGGER OUTLET GRILLE REPLACEMENT

  1. Side Window Defogger Outlet Grille[2x]
    Procedure
    Unlock the retaining tabs.

INSTRUMENT PANEL OUTER AIR OUTLET REPLACEMENT - LEFT SIDE

Preliminary Procedure

Loosen the side of the steering column upper trim cover to aid in the removal of the instrument panel outer air outlet.

  1. Instrument Panel Outer Air Outlet - Left Side
    Procedure
    1. Unlock the retaining tabs.
    2. Using a flat-bladed plastic trim tool, release the retainer clips.

Radio Control Assembly Replacement (IOB) Radio Control Assembly Replacement (IO5, IO6).

  1. Instrument Panel Center Air Outlet - Left Side
    Procedure
    Unlock the retaining tabs.

    Procedure
    Unlock the retaining tabs.

INSTRUMENT PANEL OUTER AIR OUTLET REPLACEMENT - RIGHT SIDE

    Procedure
    1. Unlock the retaining tabs.
    2. Use a flat bladed plastic trim tool.
